The first storybook I chose was A Punishment of Tengu. I've never heard of this story before. I really enjoy the role playing aspect of this storybook. It allows you to make decisions as if you were the main character. I also like the pictures that they chose with the black and white theme. This is very aesthetically pleasing. The theme may perhaps be my favorite part of the story. I thought it was clever that the choices didn't have a huge effect on the story, but it gave the illusion that the reader had free will. The introduction set the tone of the rest of the story perfectly and immediately captured my interest. I rate this storybook 10/10!
The second storybook I chose was Tales of Davy Jones's Locker. I chose this story because I've heard of Davy Jones from the classic cartoon Spongebob Squarepants. One thing that stood out to me while reading this story was the language used. I thought this storybook was poorly written and could have had more sentence variety and sentence fluency. Some of the pictures are in black and white, but they conflict with the brown and burgundy pirate theme that the blogger intended. I thought the story line was good, but I did not enjoy the amount of dialogue in the story. I rate this storybook 6/10!
The third storybook I chose was Retirement Home for the Gods. I am familiar with the Gods from Greek mythology, and I was interested in hearing about their retirement home. The Gods playing Yahtzee amused me. There was also a lot of dialogue in this story, but at least the exposition did not contain a lot of dialogue. The design of this page was decent, but it felt a little low effort. I rate this storybook 7/10!
