Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

The stories I have chosen to take notes on are from The Fables of Aesop by Joseph Jacobs (1894).
Androcles from the Esopus moralisatus
The Lion's Share
5 Characters: The Lion, The Fox, The Jackal, the Wolf, a Stag
The Lion is the leader, ordering the other animals to divide the stag into four parts. Then, the Lion said that each quarter is his because he is King of Beasts, arbiter, a part of the chase, and too cool for school.
The Fox was upset with the Lion because he would split the work but not the reward.
I'm gonna make these all characters from Bojack Horseman.
Androcles and the Lion
3 Characters: the Lion, Androcles the slave, the emperor
Androcles was nice to the lion, so the lion was nice back
The emperor was nice for no reason, maybe he liked Androcles' story
I'm gonna make these all characters from Bojack Horseman.
The Lion and the Statue
2 Characters: a Man, a Lion
The man thinks he's smarter than the lion and therefore stronger, so he shows the Lion a statue of Hercules besting a lion. The lion is smart too, so he discounts the statue because it is made by man.
I like this story because it's all about perception, and sometimes we see things however we want.
I'm gonna make these all characters from Bojack Horseman.
The Lion in Love
4 Characters: Lion, maiden, maiden's parents
The maiden's parents abuse the Lion's love for their daughter, which is really sad because the Lion just wanted to marry the girl. That poor Lion. The tag for this story was, "Love can tame the wildest," which is an interesting take on the story. Usually in fables there's more of a lesson to be learned, so maybe the lesson is don't change for love.
I'm gonna make these all characters from Bojack Horseman.
